Two Works by Ani Collier to be exhibited at Art Paris 2018
TWO DIGITAL COLLAGES BY ANI COLLIER WILL BE EXHIBITED AT ART PARIS 2018
GAINESVILLE, Fla, Feb. 15, 2018 – Black C Art Gallery is pleased to announce that two works by Ani Collier from her NY Series will be shown at Art Paris this April.
Two of Collier’s digital collages, Towering Contrast (2014) and Vertical Perspective (2016), will be exhibited at the fair in Vellum Magazine’s booth. This is the second international art fair where Collier’s work has been exhibited, following the success of her showing at Art Toronto in October 2017. Showing at Art Paris will expose Collier’s work to new audiences outside North America and Eastern Europe.
Art Paris, which will take place from April 5-8, brings together 142 galleries from 23 different countries at the Grand Palais. This year, Art Paris is also celebrating its 20th anniversary. Located at the Grand Palais in the center of Paris, the City of Light asserts its role more than ever as capital of the Arts. Each year, the fair juxtaposes the subjective, historical and critical perspective of the exhibition curator, with a selection of specific projects focusing on artists in France who, both in the past and today, have managed to preserve their independence from dominant trends, or were situated on the margin of mainstream art history. In 2018, Art Paris is also featuring Switzerland as its guest of honor. This spotlight on Switzerland will promote the wealth and diversity of the young Swiss scene through a selection of galleries and artists that are completely unknown or seldom seen in France.
The fair’s guest curator for 2018 is François Piron, art critic and exhibition curator. Piron is an independent curator, art critic and publisher. After studying literature and theater, he is now responsible for the post-diploma of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Lyon and co-founder of the Paraguay publishing cooperative in Paris. From 2000 to 2005, he co-directed the Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers. From 2007 to 2012, he co-directed the independent art space castillo / corrales in Paris. He was curator of Incorporated!, the 5th edition of the Biennial of contemporary art Les Ateliers de Rennes in 2016, and with Guillaume Désanges, he has recently co-curated the exhibition, The French Spirit.
