Black C Art in NYC!

Last Monday I returned to Gainesville from a whirlwind four-day trip to NYC. Earlier in the year, Ani was selected to take part in the NYC exhibit at Central Booking Gallery on the Lower East Side. Lucky for me, I was able to attend the opening on behalf of Black C Art!

The exhibit featured fourteen total artists who had all submitted work in various mediums, inspired by The City That Never Sleeps. Ani had two pieces featured in the exhibit from her New York series, Architexture and A View from the Harbor. Both works are spectacular digital collages that are vibrant and engaging. Ani’s artwork looked fantastic in the space, and received a lot of positive attention from the crowd. The opening was a packed house, with more than eighty people in attendance! It was wonderful to see such a great group at the gallery’s OffLINE Space. I also want to give a special thanks to my good friends that live and work in NY who came out in support of the show.

In terms of its timing within the greater art world, the opening took place during the run of the Armory Show. The Armory Show is New York’s premier art fair, and shows some of the most important artworks from the 20th and 21st centuries. My husband and I were able to attend the fair for a few hours earlier in the day on Friday. While we were there, we saw some fantastic art (along with getting to do lots of excellent people watching!). See our pictures below to get a glimpse of both the Armory Show and the exhibit!

All in all, the trip to NYC was very successful. I’m grateful to have been able to go in Ani’s place, although next time, I hope that she comes with me! We’ll keep you updated throughout the year as Ani participates in more shows nationally and internationally. We always love it when friends join us!
